Billy Reid: Spring 2011 Men’s Presentation

Billy Reid's Spring 2011 collection was inspired by his home state- Louisiana.  One can fully get a hint of a Southern vibe and it is evident in different ways. Starting with the scenery that complimented the whole collection. 

The layering was quite sophisticated but was also laid back and very relaxed. Any pieces could work well with different outfits- due to it's unique layering. Jean jackets underneath a cream blazer, knitwear, leather jacket, basic and plaid shirts, there's many pieces that can work really well with anyone's wardrobe. And to add more of a classy look- some outfits were finished with patterned ties and neckerchiefs. 

The finished look for each were polished in a certain way. Not to mention, the bags and the shoes added some key elements to the overall look. 

Working backstage for Billy Reid's Presentation was a great privilege, it exposed me to the fashion industry by getting involved with dressing models such as Patrick Clark and Thomas Penfound and of course, connecting with others. Besides working backstage, getting to see and photographing the collection in person definitely fed MYVISUALPLEASURES. haha. I loved the whole collection and I definitely cannot wait to see more from him! Congrats Billy!!

Lincoln Center: The New Home of NYFW.

I wasn't really looking forward on going back to school but the thought of looking at the "Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week" sign enlightened my mood- even though I obviously don't have invites. But it brought back memories such as waiting impatiently outside the tents at Bryant Park until the right moment. The right moment to do something about it so I could actually get inside the tents. But let's not focus on that.... :P

Lincoln Center, being the new home of fashion week, will bring many opportunities for the fashion industry. Not only is it a beautiful location, it is also surrounded with the arts. I mean Juilliard and LaGuardia are basically just a block away.

A few days from now, I will be going around Manhattan, but mainly Bergdorf's and Barneys for Fashion's Night Out. I will also be helping out backstage for a few shows- which I will talk about later.  

New Beginnings.

I haven't been blogging for a while because a few things made me feel self-conscious- especially with the cheap camera that I have been using. haha. I've also been so stressed out with family issues- and the stressful year ahead. I am now a senior, applying to design schools, and before I know it, I will be going to college. I've been thinking about a few colleges such as FIT, Parsons, RISD, Central Saint Martins, SAIC, Pratt, and FIDM. 

There were things that occured in the past few days that definitely changed my mood and perspective about certain topics. It was during my dad's birthday and my family bonded in ways that I thought would never happen. Seeing my family fight at times discourages me- therefore I lose that motivation. But things are getting better, finally starting on a positive note- CHANGE.

This is a picture of my younger sister Alyanna after lunch at a Congee Place downtown. We went to church earlier that day for my Dad's birthday. The dress of her length seemed appropriate and the hint of mustard/sheer grey geometric patterns near the hemline added some fun into her dress and the gold wedges. I love that she wore a thin belt with gold circular studs because I personally think it accentuates her figure. 

Seriously belts in various sizes, whether thin or thick can make any outfit look so chic!

Streetwear: Magdalena

I passed by Magdalena when I was in Soho with my very close friend Sydney. I loved her simple style even though it was very minimal. Her silk top surprisingly collaborated very well with her "jeggings" and militaristic booties from Topshop. It delivered a very sexy vibe due to the "lingerie" looking top.
