ACCEPTED: Fashion Institute of Technology

Hey Guys,

I'm so thrilled to announce that I will be attending Fashion Institute of Technology this Fall 2011. My hard work has finally paid off and I am finally taking another big step into fulfilling my career as an aspiring designer. Waiting has been one of the most anxious filled highlight of the college process and it has also been tough the past few days, not knowing who's going to get accepted. Besides getting accepted, it's been difficult to accept the fact that people were getting accepted and a few of us haven't heard a response. But it's all over now- I hope the few of those who were not admitted continue to follow their dreams and aspirations and never dismiss the path that they have started. Good luck to everyone- and wish me luck!

Here are just a few photos I took while constructing my portfolio from months ago.

Custo Barcelona Fall 2011

Recap from NYFW Fall 2011

Custo Dalmau’s packed show started with a pure palette of neutral colors. But as the show continued, it slowly made a transition that was filled with splashes of colors, clashing prints, wild mix of patterns, which were accentuated with different textures from fur, fringe, and voluminous ruffles. He titles his show Clean… But Not Really. We see many extravagant pieces that created a dramatic overall look through layering. Sheer, lace, draped silk, were some of the fabrics used with different patterns and color tones. Each piece had an intricate detailing of their own- mainly because of the added embellishments or overlapping textures. If one was to separate the pieces, each item would be able to compliment a simple top or dark jeans to perfection.

P.S. I enjoyed creating these collage!

something new.

2010 has been a different year for me personally and in the things I do. I have matured in different ways both in my personality and my motivation as an aspiring designer. I have taken more risk that I know I probably would not have had when I was younger. I have gotten closer with old friends and have met some wonderful people that have truly inspired me. Despite all the struggles and misunderstandings, I have always been surrounded with people who care and helped make things better.

I just wanted to thank all the people both in the industry and my personal life for sticking up and always encouraged me to be stronger. you know who you are. Thank you for believing in me and for pushing me.  I'm so excited to see what 2011 brings.

These are just a few pictures that I really liked from a party I went to on New Years Eve. I did not see one person who did not look good, or maybe I was just too wasted to even bother. All jokes aside, it was evident that most people looked stunning in different styles. I remember complimenting my friends Flora, Audrey, and Molly (photo 1,3, and 8) and they all told me that their dresses were from H&M, so big kudos to H&M for being fabulous! Not to mention, my sister is wearing a striped shirt/dress I bought her for christmas, also from H&M.

Well, that's all for now. I'm writing this and it's almost 4.. and in just a couple of hours I have school.

Peppermint.

My family celebrated christmas differently this year. Normally, we would go to their friends' houses who  we're not even close to so I feel like this year was a bit more personal. I like it so much better than all the other celebrations we've had in the past.

Just a glimpse: Fashion Portfolio

Well, it's that time of year where seniors are developing their portfolio for their desired major. As for me, fashion design is something I want to major in. Sketching, tracing, coloring, are just a few techniques I used to complete the final looks for my fashion portfolio. I don't want to post all of them yet.. so here's just something that would most likely catch your attention. I'll post the rest soon! xx

Send me on my way.

As I was looking through my Iphoto albums, I saw pictures during the summer and remembered how much I miss the warm weather. Less layering, more skin and vibrant colors. Now that it's December, we're expecting heavy wind, snow, and of course the temperature to drop lower day by day. Not to mention, dry skin calling for lotion to moisturize. hah. Well, sometimes I love the cold weather only when I'm sipping on hot chocolate and listening to melodious songs. So that's why I made a new playlist that you're probably listening to now.

So here are some photos that I saw that made me miss wearing those shorts and low vnecks. But then again, I loved that oversized jacket from Neiman Marcus that I borrowed from my aunt back in Indiana.

Oh, by the way, I got really bored with my banner and decided to change it. I know they're not necessarily taken with a quality camera. In fact, I took it with my macbook on various days, but I liked the outfits I wore..... so was it a complete fail or just blah? Let me know guys! xx

Whims Of Thoughts

Hey Guys! Sorry for my absence the past few days. There's no excuses, but I just took my SATs this weekend in Staten Island and spent my weekend with Audrey there. I had a fun photo shoot with Mike Knapp and I will post the photos soon. Other than that, I've been working on my portfolio- meaning afterschool trips to fabric stores such as Mood in fashion district, developing different design aesthetic from different inspirations, and finally producing them on a piece of paper that would be used as an addition to my growing portfolio. I'm confident to say that I am pretty excited yet nervous. I think my portfolio is strong, with different color palettes, textures, and structure. My In Person Portfolio with FIT will be this saturday so.. wish me luck!! :)

Here are a few photos from my friend Sydney's and Fernanda's blog. Check them out.
