Zang Toi Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Show

Just sharing with you my coverage for Erin during NYFW. 

The designer, Zang Toi, presented his collection “Timeless Beauties” with different looks for day and night. For day, Loro Piana suits and dresses, turtlenecks, and pantsuits. For evening wear, he accentuated the woman’s body through his dramatic evening gowns with touches of emerald green and fox or mink fur. The audience started to applaud as soon as the first model walked out, strutting down the runway with her striking high bun. It was hard to take photos, as each person stood up one by one from their seat from the start of the show. Towards the end, Jill Zarin walked gracefully modeling down the runway with a black strapless ballgown with nude beaded french lace.

Guess 5th Avenue Opening

On February 17th, I attended a private cocktail reception for the unveiling of Guess' Fifth Avenue Flagship Location. The store looked very welcoming with the merchandise properly presented. The store itself looked very appealing with it's overall store presentation. I loved that on my way to the 2nd floor, there was a 12 foot high LED screen playing their current shows. The store offered a mix of clothing and accessories that any customer could find something to wear- whether it'd be something comfortable and simple or just something to wear for the night. I also found the installations very appealing. This included   a denim rug made from over 500 jean patches. Make sure to check it out for yourself if you're around the area! The store is located on 575 Fifth Avenue ( corner of 47th Street)

Cynthia Steffe Fall 2011

Thanks to Erin, I was able to attend the Steffe Fall 2011 Fashion Show! 

There is a modern approach to the garments seen at Cynthia Steffe. A sense of youthful attitude was developed from the different garments seen here. The combination and mixes of femininity with masculine tailoring develops a sexy overall look. Velvet, plisse satin and lame are used even for daytime looks. Metallics were used to make hot pants, leather for sophisticated skirts, and delicate silks for draped dresses and tops. Saturates shades of burgundy, forest green and bronze are mixed with other earthy color tones to create a glamorous statement.

Jeremy Laing Fall 2011

Jeremy Laing's construction method displayed a clear understanding of structure and draping. We get a slight sense of goth and glamour through the color tones ranging from deep olive green, charcoal, dark brown, as well as graphic prints from outer space. I love the hem of the skirts as they drape down the floor. The different necklines played a huge role in creating that overall "look"- some wore turtlenecks, while the rest wore button ups etc. The fabric he used also contribute to the sophistication of the collection, we saw jersey and velvet the most. Not to mention, the styling, hair and makeup made a great combination with the garments seen here.
